SAFE, together with all Consortium Partners, is proud for having successfully implemented the TRANSTUN real-life exercise at the Aragnouet-Bielsa Tunnel last week!
More than 250 players respectively from the Prefecture des Hautes Pyrenees, the Gendarmerie Nationale des Hautes-Pyrénées, the SDIS65, and the Guardia Civil joined their effort in a Real-life Exercise, which tested their operational procedures in case of CBRN events within the framework the Binational Plan established between France and Spain. The event was also the opportunity to involve more than 50 observers from 8 EU countries, and the European Commission, which has been represented by high-level personalities from DGHOME and DGECHO.
During the two days of TRSANSTUN real-life exercise, first responders and tunnel operators had the chance to test the operational guidelines and harmonised procedures drafted in the previous 24 months of project implementation by a pool of around 40 experts also engaged as official members of the TRANSTUN Network of Stakeholders.
As an outstanding outcome, the TRANSTUN exercise was a unique opportunity to outline current strengths and weaknesses of the main actors involved in such a peculiar emergency response, which is a fundamental achievement to increase not only better inter-agency coordination but also a multi-country response to a CBRN event towards a more CrossBorder SecurityUnion.
It is clear that the TRANSTUN real-life exercise can be considered another milestone showing excellence and dedication to make a SAFEr Europe while supporting public-private-partnerships in a cross-national environment, paving the way for new similar initiatives in the future!
